At Work That Moves, our story begins with the personal experiences of American expats and Eligible Family Members (EFMs) searching for meaningful, flexible work abroad.

Like many of you, we scrolled through countless job postings — only to realize they often required:

  • U.S.-based residency

  • Travel within the U.S.

  • Eastern U.S. working hours

None of which aligned with our lives overseas. As default parents balancing caregiving with professional aspirations, it was frustrating to see how many opportunities simply didn’t fit.

But our journey wasn’t only about work. Living abroad, we also wanted access to:

  • Reliable information about the countries where we were posted

  • Resources to help us adapt and thrive

  • Ways to grow the skills that truly interested us
